My back hurts.

I have hurt my back.

On the Sunday before last there was a big power cut, the power was off for nearly seven hours. When I got up in the morning, I noticed that the light in the bathroom was flickering. I thought that the bulb was about to go, so I wasn't that bothered about it (although I have a strange phobia of smashed lightbulbs after seeing one at school. It's a long story that I won't go into now.). Then I heard voices outside the bathroom door and realised that it was my mum, grandad and aunt talking to each other. The other lights in the house were also flickering. I went to get dressed and my grandad came out of the bathroom a few minutes later and said that his razor had just "blown up". I thought that he was joking at first, because it is quite a new razor, but he said that it was on the side of his face, then had gone bang and started to smoke. He thought that it was a fault with the razor, like the motor had burnt out, and decided that he would take it back to the shop and excange it for a new one.

The lights were still flickering when it was time for breakfast and my grandad decided that he would call the electricity supplier, which he did. Ever Sunday, I cook breakfast. I went to put the baked beans in the microwave and the power was off. I thought that it had become unplugged behind the fridge. I pulled out the fridge to have a look, but it was still plugged in. I opened the door to have a look and it started to work!! Let me explain, the microwave starts microwaving when the door is open.

I got on with making breakfast and started to get on with some homework. Whilst I was on the computer the power went off. We had to wait for it to be reconnected. Just before they reconnected the power two men came around and said that every plug socket needed to be unplugged and turned off. Then after they turned the power back on they had to send another man around to check that the circuit in the house was properly connected.

The things that were damaged we managed to get replaced from the electricity company, so that was ok. My grandad was also talking to a neighbour and he was told that at times the power that was coming through was up to 400v!

Tis all for now ....

Preparation

I haven't written in a long time, I think I start like this every time I write!

I have started back at college, doing a BTEC National Diploma in Business. We have not started the course yet, this week was just a get to know other people thingamydoodaa. Lessons start next week and I have been trying to get organised, but I am failing badly. There is so much that I have left to do. I have made some pages for my folders that show the topic name and my name. That has been the highlight of my morning!!

I ordered my text book for college from Amazon. It should arrive sometime next week. I like textbooks!

That is all for now, I need to do more organising!
